divided into nine academic Schools. The personnel of the nine Faculties include
more than 700 people as academic staff, 140 scientific assistants and 260
administrative and technical staff. The total number of NTUA employees is about
1350. The total number of undergraduate students is about 8500 and the graduate
students 1500. There are currently 19 Departmental or Inter-Departmental
Postgraduate Courses. Moreover, N.T.U.A participates in 9 Post-graduate
Programmes coordinated by other Greek Universities. After the acquisition of
the "Post Graduate Specialisation Diploma", the student can proceed
towards submitting a Doctorate Thesis. The
scientific staff in the Schools of NTUA, together with post-graduate
researchers, apart from their teaching and related educational activities,
conduct research work assisted by post-graduate students and a considerable
number of external collaborators; the amount and the high standards of this
research are proved by the numerous publications in International Scientific
Journals and Proceedings of International Conferences as well as by the
prominent place of NTUA among all Europeans Universities, due to the increasing
number of research projects financed by the EU and other Greek and foreign
organizations. NTUA operates
many of its Laboratories also as "service laboratories", which
provide expert advice, tests and measurements etc, within the framework of its
technological competence, which can be useful for the development of the
country. NTUA is
currently estimated to have a total number of 200.000 volumes of books and over
80.000 volumes of scientific reviews. Books and reviews are available either
from the Central Library of the Institution or from the Libraries of the
Faculties, the Departments and the Labs. At NTUA, there is appreciable know-how into all
topics of Physical and Applied Sciences, with emphasis to disciplines such as
Informatics, Materials, Environment etc. Prof. Andreas G. Andreopoulos andrea@central.ntua,gr He graduated from the School of Chemical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens in 1976 and obtained his Ph.D in 1983. Hebecame Teaching Assistant in 1979 and then promoted to Lecturer (1985), Assistant Professor (1988), Associate Professor (1992) and full Professor 91996) at the same School. He had worked as Visiting Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA where he became adjunct Professor in 1994. Treasurer and Secretary General of the Hellenic Polymer Society, Chairman of the Greek Association of Chemical Engineers, Vice-Chairman of the Dept. of Chemical Engineering, member of the General Assembly of the Technical Chamber of Greece and Chairman of the ETAT S.A.. He was the Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change (2010-20011). Currently, he is the chairman of the Hellenic Solid Waste Management Association (HSWMA). His research activities are focused on the topics of polymer and composite materials technology, recycling and solid waste management including both urban and industrial waste. More specifically, he has been involved in research projects dealing with the treatment processes of leather and its waste products.

I received my doctorate in nanomaterials physics in 2009 at Anna University in Chennai, India. I have authored more than 41 research papers published in peer reviewed Journals of International commendation. I was the recipient of a scientific publication award by my institution seven times (2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016) for being a prolific publisher of research papers in international journals. I was also an Erasmus Mundus Fellow at the Department of Chemical Physics, Lund University, Sweden. I granted the Partnership and Ownership initiative (ParOwn) for post-doctor fellowship at Nottingham University, UK. Currently, I serve as the focal point of the European Union’s RDI Program. I also am the Director of Research and Scientific Publications Centre and the Scientific Counselor for Technology at South Valley University. My interest in the scientific teaching is based on teaching recent scientific technologies such as Nanotechnology, Renewable Energy and use of modern methods in education. I was a coordinator for two projects funded by TEMPUS in solar energy and nanotechnology respectively. I am very interested in leather technology in Egypt.

Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AAST) is one of the
Arab league institutes established as a regional institute for maritime
transport in 1970. An educational institute, it provides studies and research
in the areas of maritime transport, engineering, logistics and supply chain
management and business management. AAST participates in various training,
consultations and international events. It has diversified staff specialised in
different fields such as logistics and supply chain management, transport,
economics, finance, marketing, business management, computer science,
mathematics and statistics, operation management and law. In addition. AAST
lies in 6 campuses in Egypt (3 campuses in Cairo, Alexandria, Port said and
South Valley). AAST has
numerous assets that can be rented for research, education and training.
Classes and offices are equipped with technological aids that provide a
world-class level of education. Smart Rooms are prepared for video
conferencing, e-learning and online training. Libraries & Information
Services Center is a master of art. The libraries are connected through online
interactive terminals to ensure easy access to the center’s in-house database.
The Center established an integrated information system that facilitates direct
search through a computerized catalog and electronic databases. AAST also has International Maritime Organization
(IMO) compound that was established as a distinguished entity that was
inaugurated by the IMO Secretary General. Another complex found in Alexandria
campus and one of the most important subsidiary bodies of AAST is the
Integrated Simulator Complex (ISC). This complex includes 12 simulators
operating both individually and collectively. These simulators are considered
state-of-art, which makes of ISC a unique simulators complex in the region.
Since it early foundation in 1996, ISC provided more than 1200 tailored
training courses to more than 20,000 trainees from 32 countries. Dr. Haddad holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration (major marketing) and a postgraduate diploma from the School of Management - Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.She obtained her MSc in Shipping Management from the World Maritime University in Malmoe, Sweden and her PhD in Supply Chain Management from Liverpool John Moores University in the UK. Dr. Haddad was awarded the Fellowship of the British Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) in 2013 and she is a certified Higher Fiata diploma and International Road Union (IRU) instructor. university located on the outskirts of Irbid, in northern Jordan. JUST was
established in 1986 as an autonomous national institute of higher education
with the main objective of producing outstanding professionals in

Fahmi Abu Alrub, Professor of chemical and biochemical engineering, former Dean of Research at JUST and Key Expert at the EMUNI University-Slovenia. Prof. Abu Al-Rub is/was partner in 11 EU projects (2 EPI, 4 TEMPUS Projects, and 9 Erasmus+), and one NSF, one USAID, and one FAO project, with a total budget exceeding 18,000,000 EURO. Prof. Abu Al-Rub was the key expert and coordinator to establish the first Master's Program in the World on De-Pollution of the Mediterranean which was supposed to be hosted by three European Universities. Prof. Abu Al-Rub has reformed the Deanship of Research at JUST to establish the TTO and externally funded office to manage and secure external funds. He has active research in Environment, Renewable Energy, Biofuels, and Wastewater Treatment. He has more than 80 publications on Environment, and Wastewater Treatment, and renewable energy.

Hussien Bin Talal honored Al-Balqa Governorate by the issuance of the royal
decree to establish Al-Balqa Applied University (BAU) on 1996. The philosophy
behind the establishment of BAU is defined by the royal decree as to monitor
all public, private, military and UNRWA community intermediate colleges which
are more than fifty three colleges. Thirty-four colleges are technically and
academically monitored by BAU while the rest of the colleges are directly
supervised by the BAU in academic, technical, financial and administrative
affairs. BAU is vibrant to qualify human resources and create better higher

promotes studies and research projects, participates in European projects,

CRE.THI.DEV is a recently founded company, the last four years, has developed
activities in life-long learning mainly with its participation in seven
ERASMUS+ projects. It has also participated in two National Projects focusing

Its activities and services included a) training, b) waste prevention and waste treatment, consulting services, c) quality control and certification of products, d) chemical analysis of effluents, e) technical assistance and f) Health and Safety services). From 1985 to 2011, D. Papakontantinou participated in many European research, technology, quality, training and environmental projects, offered technical assistance to Institutes and Industry in India, Ukrain and Mauritius. For 10 yearS he has also been founder and Managing Director of KEK-ELKEDE offering vocational training services to SMEs. As an active member of local administration since 2003, he has experience in organizing and executing projects for the benefit of the local communities. As member/President for 20 years of consulting committees and working groups of the Ministries of National Economy and Development he has experience in the definition and elaboration of specific measurements for the realization of programs at national, regional and sectoral level. In 2012 he founded CRE.THI.DEV. In the 4 years of its operation, D. Center for the Leather Industry

CTIC –
The Portuguese Technological Centre for the Leather Industry was formally
created in 1992, under the initiative of leather companies, the sector’s
Association and also with a participation of the Portuguese State. CTIC has
modern premises, in an area of 1.800 m2, including well equipped laboratory for
chemical analysis, laboratory of microbiology, laboratory for physical and
mechanical tests, a pilot plant for the development of semi-industrial
processes, rooms for training courses, library and auditorium for conferences. The
Centre has a technical staff of 24 people, specialized in different areas:
Leather Technology, Chemical Engineering, Environment, Safety at Work, Food
Safety and Economic and Financial areas. CTIC
provides scientific and technological support to the sector, assuming a
predominant role in the implementation of new technologies and processes, in
the research and development, and in the environment preservation, which leads
the sector to the technical sophistication, innovation, process
rationalisation, cost reduction, productivity gains and differentiation. In the
Training and Information areas CTIC provides professional training courses for
the sector, in-company-training for staff, publishes a Technical Newsletter and
organises several seminars and exhibitions. The Centre has public recognitions for training,
and it is certified under ISO 9001 and ISO 17025, being also the national
standardisation body for Leather, participating also in CEN – European
Committee for Standardization.

and the largest technical university in Romania with 15 faculties and about

EUREKA/EUROSTARS/ITEA 2; 63 projects under COST and more than 100 others
international programmes at Kaunas University of Technology. The
research group of the Leather and Fur Technology in Department of Polymer
Chemistry and Technology at Kaunas University of Technology has been working in
the area of new, ecological leather and fur processing since 1970. The research
group has about 30 patents in the field of leather technology. One patent is
related to the theme of project. About 20 R&D projects were carried out
improving leather technologies accordingly to requests of Lithuanian
enterprises. The research group took part in joint research
programme of Lithuania and Ukraine and carried out project entitled
"Orthopeadic leather having antimicrobial effect as product of environmentally
clean technology". area. Project under EUREKA programme with Romania and
Ukraine entitled "Less hazardous salts for leather processing" was
coordinated by Lithuania side.

Supervisor of 2 international and 6 national grants related with the development of more advanced and more clean leather processing technologies. About 200 publications in international and national scientific literature, and 14 national patents in the area.
